With International Women’s Day 2025 this Saturday... Come on, Australia - we must do better! This year's theme, "Accelerate Action," reminds us that while progress is happening, it’s far too slow. The latest data from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) shows: → 72% of employers still have a gender pay gap favouring men. → Only 6% of employers have a pay gap in favour of women. → The higher the salaries, the bigger the gap - the most well-paid industries are the worst offenders. The good news? 56% of employers have reduced their pay gap in the past 12 months. And what about Architecture and Engineering? → Not a single large Architecture or Landscape Architecture firm has achieved a gender pay gap within WGEA’s target range (-5% to +5%). → Engineering firms are improving but still report pay gaps as high as 33.6% in favour of men. Our young daughters (& son) might not know if they want to be designers, architects, planners, or engineers just yet, but we do know this: they deserve to be paid fairly, no matter what career they choose.
