Think about some of the following traits of a good employee: ✔️ Ability to work autonomously ✔️ Strong communication skills ✔️ Great understanding of design and national codes and regs ✔️ Entrenched position within the market and with particular clients ✔️ Good people management skills ✔️ Ambition and eagerness to develop ✔️ Problem-solving capabilities ✔️ Strong project experience in desirable sectors ie healthcare How many of these apply to you? Even if you have 2-3 years' experience, you might tick a few of these boxes and, as such, deserve to be paid more than the typical at your level. So, when you speak to your manager about a pay rise, talk to a new company about a move, or talk to a recruiter, think about the above and what makes you stand out from the crowd. INDUSTRY NEWS // Healthcare is clearly where it is at!! And @rymanhealthcareaustralia is killing it!! ‌These guys have just opened their eighth (in just under a decade) aged-care village in Victoria, and plans are on the table for more in the Garden State! ‌A New Zealand business that brought its retirement and aged care model to Australia in 2014, @rymanhealthcarenz was founded in 1984 and opened its first village in Invercargill in 1996. ‌Ryman boasts some of the best architecturally designed facilities. @plusarchitecture had its hand in the Ryman Seniors Living in Coburg, and @warrenmahoney were involved in Ryman’s Riccarton Retirement Village in Christchurch. When the industry has been a bit tricky—yup, these guys have felt the pinch too, with Ryman recently revising its guidance for full-year 2024 underlying profit to $265 million to $285 million (NZD), down from a reported $300 million to $330 million. INDUSTRY NEWS // Poor old Docklands has always struggled to meet expectations - quite possibly like the middle child in any family (isn’t that right, @leekstevens 😉). But new life could be breathed into the area! Yup, did you see the news last week? There’s a bold plan to explore a major new development opportunity at @marvelstadium.au and @afl House. “While it remains to be seen how the project will unfold, the proposal would however be separate to state government’s $225 million investment in the redevelopment of Marvel Stadium, which was completed in 2023”. This new development would look at revitalising the waterfront and enhance Marvel as a sports and entertainment precinct. Boo-ya! And with @costco_aus now confirming that they will close Docklands (potentially as early as August this year) and relocate to Ardeer, the area could do with some happiness and further evolution. OUR YEAR IN REVIEW // Say whattttt? We are near the end of 2023, and it only feels like it began yesterday! Sooooo much has happened. We started the year at the Aus Tennis Open with fab clients. Got a few rounds of golf in while the weather was tops. ⛳️ Lee and Nicholas got all fancy and attended the Architecture Awards… But the biggest news… both added to their families. Lee and his partner welcomed a baby boy to make them a family of 4… and Nick and his partner welcomed a little girl… their first for their little tribe. Amongst it all (some would say a period of chaos), we made placements across 20 clients over 3 states, with 97% of our perms still in their role. 😅 And we picked up 5 new clients to add to our ever-expanding portfolio of goodness. All in all. Not. Too. Bad. With our break looming, we are looking forward to taking a bit of RnR with the fam while recharging to start 2024 with a bang. Our office will be closed from 15 December and back on 15 January 2024. Don’t fret, though; we will still be checking our emails, and of course, we can help with any urgent requests during this time.
